NPR Article on Onondaga Lake

Onondaga Lake has often been mentioned as “America’s most polluted lake.” This article by David Chanatry at NPR begins by reiterating this moniker. I found that this article oversimplified some of the issues regarding the Onondaga Lake cleanup efforts, though for a national audience it provides a fair enough overview. I was surprised that fishing derbies are taking place on the lake; I did not know that fish populations had grown to be so plentiful. The article does leave some room for skepticism, such as a quote from Sid Hill suggesting that a true recovery of the environmental health of the lake will take centuries, not decades.
